Record boxes may soon become a distant memory, as Pioneer releases a USB-only CDJ. This is in reponse to a growing demand for USB-only readers.
The XDJ-1000 is said to be the beginning of a new, digitally focused USB-only range. The player brings together many features of the dominating CDJ-2000NXS, including the controversial "beat sync". Furthermore, the XDJ-1000 sees an introduction to touch-screen keyboards, revolutionising traditional browsing methods. As you search for key words, it essentially 'Googles' your music library and displays all the appropriate matches.
The system works alongside the program/app Rekordbox, allowing the DJ to analyse and prepare tracks before a set. The XDJ-1000 will also give you a roundup of information from each file, such as the beat counter and the key of the track. Working with Rekordbox also allows the DJ instant access to pre-prepared cue points and other customized settings.
The release of the device is exemplary of us living in a digital age.
