Top 5... Swimsuits

For something so small, it’s amazing how many problems a swimsuit poses. Or how much choice there is! Do you go for a bikini, a cut-out swimsuit, or stick with a classical one-piece? These are not decisions to be taken lightly - when baring so much flesh, a rookie mistake can be disastrous. To spare you the stress, we’ve dipped our toes into the fashion waters to find the 5 best trends this summer...

1. Classic swimsuit Accessorize - £30
For anyone who dreads baring all on the beaches (i.e. most people), the black one-piece is your best friend. The black colour is endlessly flattering and strategically placed cut-outs add  something sexy to your one-piece. Classic and timeless, the black one-piece is a long-term investment; it never goes out of fashion.

2. Mix & match bikini tops and bottoms H&M - £3.99 each
Originality is the key trend nowadays and allows you to let loose your creative side! Blend a sober colour with a colorful print to mix it up; we’ve teamed a black brief with a coral and black geometric top - coral is great as it goes with all skin-tones. Add some jewellery for the glam factor.

3. Ruffle bandeau bikini Urban Outfitters - £28
Urban Outfitters combines three trends in one here, with the floral pattern and ruffles keeping it girly and gorgeous this summer. Bandeaus are great for anyone who wants to avoid straplines - take those straps off without the worry of getting done for indecent exposure.

4. Pin up style bikini American Apparel - top £24 / bottoms £28
The ‘60s madness generated by Mad Men has brought back old skool glamour. All eyes will be on you in this feminine and sexy ensemble which will emphasise your curves but still leave you looking classy. Perfect for anyone who’s a bit self-conscious about getting their tummy out.

5. Cut-out swimsuit Ann Summers - now £16 in the sale
For the daring. This statement-making piece screams confidence and is sure to turn heads. Bold and sexy, a cut-out swimsuit still lets you show off your figure to its best while adding that ‘je ne sais quoi’ that gets one over a bikini. A word of warning: unless you want a patchwork tan, don’t fall asleep in the sun.
