Algarve

Other | Thursday 11th August 2011 | Osh

Situated in the south of Portugal, Algarve is probably the best place to go in Portugal. People are nice, parties are wicked, weather is great, beaches are clean, water is clear... What else could you possibly want?!

This area is considered the best when it come to water sports. Surfing, wind-surfing, kite-surfing, water skiing and jet skiing are the most popular sports in Algarve, and there are numerous places to hire the equipment and plenty of outlet surf shops to buy stuff in, so don’t worry if you don’t have your own.

July and August are definitely the best months to visit Algarve, because the temperatures are between 20ºC and 30ºC on average. The most popular cities are Lagos, Faro, Praia da Luz and Albufeira. The last one is famous for its vibrant nightlife and has the most popular party district in Algarve called “The Strip”. Bar hopping is a very popular practise, and you won’t notice when you end up in world’s famous Pacha!

What other thing is Algarve famous for? Piri Piri Chicken! Yeah, you can cook it yourself at home, but there is nothing like a Piri Piri in Algarve. The infamous chicken is sold in nearly every restaurant in the area,. This spicy dish is enjoyed by locals and tourist alike. All Portuguese people have a bottle of Piri Piri sauce on their tables... But believe me, there is nothing like a home-made Piri Piri Chicken from a small restaurant by the sea in Algarve!

Ready for your last getaway weekend abroad? Come to Algarve this summer, explore the region further, party hard and have fun. And that Piri Piri Chicken... Yummy!
