Eastern Electrics Summer Magic

House | Wednesday 13th August 2014 | Osh

Over the years, Eastern Electrics has always put on stellar line-ups, with some of the most influential, cutting edge DJ’s and producers from the international electronica spectrum, and this year was no exception.  Debuting at its new home, 17th century, Hatfield House. Eastern Electrics Festival was back this year, stronger and with more wattage than ever.

This one-day extravaganza started back in 2007, in an East London warehouse, and it has slowly and surely secured itself as one of the best electronica music festivals in the UK.  In the recent turbulent financial times, Eastern Electrics have survived, and managed build a brand that reflects quality and innovation thru each of its events.

Wandering around the vast 42-acre garden at Hatfield House, the stages were hosted by some of the most reputable musical stables from within the UK electronica music scene.  Over at the Mulletover stage, tiNi and Ellen Allien kept it bliss and bubbling for the crowds, whilst Rinse FM and RC1 sound system brought not only their bass, but their Rinse radio to Hatfield House. Route 94 turned up the voltage, just before Loefah unleashed his subterranean sub bass dub step onto the mighty RC1 sound system.

This year the main outdoor stage played host to the likes of, Art Department, Monika Kruse, Laura Jones, Maxxi Soundsystem, Steve Lawler and Kerri Chandler. Watching the sun go down during the closing set from Mr Chandler seemed to encapsulate what Eastern Electrics is all about. The reason behind why Kerri Chandler closing became clear when his trademark jazzy, soulful and atmospheric style of house perfectley complimented the sunset going down on this 17th Century garden.  Kerri Chandler said after, it's one of his favorite festivals...period.

After his epic performance, I sense there may be somewhat of a love affair developing, as Eastern Electrics play host to Kerri Chandler again, who'll be delivering an 8 hour long extravaganza at London’s newest night space, Hydra on October 3rd.

With a visually stunning light and pyrotechnic show to boot, EE yet again delivered a uniquely electronica musical experience for the most discerning House head.  Eastern Electrics Festival celebrated an electronic music scene that has never been so strong. International selectors spanning bass, house, techno, disco and all realms of electronic music joined the Eastern Electrics family and created something quite special.

Firmly cementing its place in the UK festival calendar, Eastern Electrics Festival 2014 has been a prime example of festival summer magic – and one of Guestlist’s most memorable parties to date.
