JC/DC works the African vibe for his 2011 summer collection
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, 61, is a French designer whose creations have been modelled by big music industry artists including Kayne West, Beth Ditto, Mia and Lady Gaga. Music is a big influence in his work and Castelbajac often draws inspiration from different sounds and genres including Rock and Incidental music, constantly aware of new groups and emerging musical movements. This season, JC/DC embraced the African vibe with a fluo touch and his Spring/Summer 2011 collection tore up the catwalks with his ethnic, savage, colorful and original designs. With animal prints set to carry through to the Autumn/Winter 2011 collections, you’ll get loads of wear out of bright, safari-inspired pieces this year.
Don’t hesitate to mix your prints with colourful accessories; try an oversize animal print tee with fluo leggings and add statement jewellery pieces in wood and colourful plastics. Extra points for geometric patterns in primary colours.
