Reading Festival 2013 Review

Once again, Reading Festival proved itself to be one of the best festivals in the country, with one of the most impressive and eclectic line-ups of the festival calendar.
Despite rain that the Met felt worthy of a severe weather warning, nothing failed to dampen the spirits of the festival revellers who danced and sang until their hearts were content (or the MDMA wore off - whichever came first).
Despite drawing a disappointingly small crowd, Action Bronson smashed the Radio 1xtra tent, at one point walking off stage, through the crowd and out of the tent. Of the three headliners, Biffy Clyro shone the brightest after a substandard performance from Eminem, who came under criticism for apparent miming.
Another controversial moment occured during Frank Turner’s set when he was pushed onto the main stage in a wheelchair to pay homage to Kurt Cobain, who pulled the same stunt when Nirvana graced the Reading Festival stage. However, in typical British spirit, some failed to see the funny side and lambasted Frank for his ‘insensitivity.’
After a few unfortunately lacklustre years, Reading is definitely back where it belongs: at the forefront of the British summer festival schedule.
