Run-D.M.C Star DMC Believes Hip-hop Needs More Positive Vibes
Run-D.M.C star Darryl McDaniels also known in the group as DMC has claimed that modern hip-hop is “negative” and doesn't have enough positive themes attached to the genre. He believes that artists at present only speak about guns and drugs which isn't what hip-hop was supposed to be.
The hip-hop legend believes that although in his time he had tracks about violence, he also had songs which promoted positive messages alongside the negative tracks. He claims that rappers nowadays need to make a variety of different messages for young fans to contemplate.
He also doesn’t agree with rappers using the excuse that actors can make movies which involve a lot of violence and not get any complaints. He told the metro newspaper "A rapper will use this excuse -- 'Man they don't go after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis when they make their violent movies'" and I go, "If you're going to use that excuse get off the mic, don't produce. I'll personally kick your ass out of hip-hop 'cause if you're using that excuse, go be an actor." DMC is ready to kick some ass out of the game he helped develop.
Easy D has also gone on to say that "98 percent of hip-hop music that's out now I say is just bad demos. ... If you want to see real hip-hop you gotta go to concerts and festivals because hip-hop on (the) radio sucks." And that hip-hop today is “Polluted”, “Disrespectful” and “Immature.”
Here’s some Run-D.M.C. for you to enjoy while you think about whether or not you believe DMC’s statement is correct.
