DJ Fresh launches DnB into the charts with new single ‘Louder’ ft Sian Evans. Drum and Bass has made its mark on the mainstream music scene in recent years. The transition from underground to mainstream was pioneered somewhat with the arrival of Australian drum and bass trio Pendulum who burst onto the scene with Hold Your Colour (2007), which went on to become one of the best selling drum and bass albums of all time, consequently paving the path for other artists to follow. Chase and Status closely followed with their debut album More Than Alot (2008) which entered the UK Dance chart at number 2 with a number of singles gaining considerable play time in the UK club scene. DJ Fresh is the latest DJ to dominate mainstream music with his single ‘Louder’ which features vocals by Sian Evans. The track gained recognition when it was used as the backing track for the latest Lucozade advert and has gone on to sell 140,000 copies, nearly double the amount sold by their closest competitor. The track encapsulates all the features of commercial drum and bass with catchy melodies and pounding basslines and signposts a future for dnb to enter a wider market.
