Club Eden meets Toolroom Knights
It’s an exciting summer for Ibiza club Eden this year as Toolroom Record’s Toolroom Knight’s sets up shop for the next few months.
DJ, producer and Grammy nominee Mark Knight created an imprint in 2004 with a vision to re-shape the world of house music as he saw fit. Since then Toolroom Records has changed the game with over 100 releases, a top spot as biggest selling label on Beatport as well as a legacy of stand-out tracks like ‘Devil Walking’, ‘Downpipe’ and ‘Good Times’ to name just a few.
Not quite satisfied with this, Mark set out to wake the sleepy, late noughties club scene with a bit of Toolroom vibrance. By 2006, ‘Toolroom Knights’ had become a monthly staple for London club Ministry of Sound and has risen to fame since then as one of the most happening parties in world, showcasing a variety of talents including Jaguar Skills, Deadmau5, Underworld, Florence and The Machine and Benny Benassi.
This year Knight has moved Toolroom’s Ibiza residency from Space to Eden; arguably the most beautiful club on the island who, under new management, claim to have “changed paradise”.
Islanders can expect to hear an all-night-long infusion of funk, electro, house and tech house sounds from a host of Toolroom vets as well as a few new names. Some of Guestlist’s favourites for this summer are:
Pleasurekraft:
A simultaneously visceral and cerebral experience induced only by the seductive, deep, groove heavy, underground techno inspired music that you hear the kids listening to .. - Common side effects include: unrelenting head bobbing giving way to complete surrender to physical movement commonly referred to as 'dancing'
Claptone:
Claptone stormed to success in 2012 with his dominating track ‘Cream’ topping new world charts and alluring all those who heard it. Deep and woozy, Claptone’s infamous sound blends euphoria with acute melancholia and earthy elements.
Mark Kinchen:
Marck “MK” Kinchen is a house icon, legend or the guy whose music you know but you may not have known his name. He has long pushed the boundaries of music in ways that have earned him the stellar reputation he has. MK.put out legendary tracks like Burnin, For You, Do It Right, Feel The Fire and Always. Most of these songs still fill the dance floors today, as do his 200-plus unmistakable remixes for artists ranging from Bizarre Inc, Blondie, Moby, Luther Vandross, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Ray, Lee Foss,Jamie Jones, Storm Queen (morgan geist) and Inner City’s latest single.
