Friction to leave BBC after six years

Friction announces his departure from the BBC, handing over to Rene LaVice.
After smashing it on the BBC since 2012, Friction has decided to move on. Announcing the news on social media, he said; “This is something that hasn’t been an easy decision and one that I’ve been debating in my mind for a long time now” … “I’ve been struggling more and more to keep up with the demands of combining the show with DJ’ing week in-week out, studio production and performing my label duties, as well as (most importantly) being a father”.
For six years now, Friction has been the ambassador for drum & bass on BBC Radio 1 & 1xtra. Hitting the airwaves weekly, the Brighton-based DJ and producer would bring the very best in the genre to the station, giving a 360 degree shot of the global scene, with the baddest tunes getting the Friction Fire, and the famed DNB60 mixes getting the leading names an uninterrupted 60 minute mix.
He first took the reigns of the show from none other than Fabio & Grooverider. He done the show proud, upholding its international reputation. It’s easy to forget that all the while, Friction had an international DJ schedule, headed one of the leading drum & bass labels in the scene and most importantly, has a personal life. The Shogun warrior soldiered through and made his tight schedule look a breeze, though now is the time for Friction to focus his energies elsewhere and who can blame him for that? Big up to Friction and the team, you pushed the drum & bass sound in the biggest and best way.
His final show will be Tuesday 31st October, before he hands over the flag to Rene LaVice who’ll start on November 7th.
