Toronto Is Broken shares his British summer drum n bass mix!

Drum and Bass | Friday 2nd June 2017 | Arren

He sits in many DJs playlists, but what's in his?

Toronto Is Broken has been on fire in recent times. He's developed a heavy hitting style that's had heads turning from across the scene. He's locked into a big room style that's rowdy AF. The same can be said for his last release on Sub Slayers, the three tracked monster that's goes on the all out offensive.

In his classic style, each record has an air of epicness about it before descending to madness with well-constructed basslines and a healthy jab of samples. Hear them over on Toronto Is Broken's SoundCloud page.

In the pipeline ahead, he's got a new album forthcoming on Viper and will no doubt showcase his production techniques to the max. His tunes are finding their way into so may playlists right now, so we wondered what was in his, below are his choices - some may catch you off guard!

Erb N Dub & North Base - Punk Rock

"This track is such a belter! There's so much energy from the guitars that is perfectly extended into the bass itself, which can be pretty tricky to do. Instant rewind track!"

Camo & Krooked - Good Times Bad Times

"I've been waiting for this track to drop for a while, and when it did, it didn't disappoint. I'm absolutely loving their sound, C&K are pushing drum & bass further than it's ever been before, it's such a forward thinking sound. I also can't wait for their new album Mosaik to drop."

Mohican Sun - Where Did You Go

"Mohican Sun, along with Dawn Wall, bring such a vibe. I'm in love with this raw and organic sound right now in drum & bass. The dark vocals from Lana Del Rey suit this track perfectly too, such great sample selection."

Paramore - Emergency

"I'm on such a Paramore hype at the moment and their first three albums; All We Know Is Falling, Riot and Brand New Eyes are on repeat. I grew up listening to these albums, and “Emergency” has to be my favourite of all their tracks. I tend to listen to more non-dancefloor and not drum & bass tracks these days, which keeps the idea really fresh when I come to writing."

Don Broco - Automatic

"My girlfriend recently introduced me to a couple of their tracks, and I went on Apple Music and did some more research into them. I'm a sucker for a chorus with catchy vocals and big power chords. I'm also really feeling the Friendly Fires vibe in the intro."

Dead Letter Circus - Space On The Wall (Re-Imagined)

"My second all-time favourite band (Enter Shikari being number 1) are about to release their new album, The Endless Mile, which consists of new stripped-back version of tracks from their previous three albums, which is something I'd love to do one day with my music."

Sleep Research Facility - Deep Freize (Album)

"I'm so into my ambient and drone music right about now and it's near impossible for me to sleep these days without putting it on in bed. This album consists of mainly footsteps, wind and sub rumble; but there are incredibly subtle music elements within it such as light pads. It tells the story of someone lost in Antarctica in the midst of a blizzard, hence why the track names are all co-ordinates."

Sublamp – In Our Hiding Voice (Album)

"Another ambient album I've been listening to in my sleep. This one is perfect as all of the elements slowly evolve between one another, which is perfect for relaxation. I couldn't find the whole album on Youtube or Soundcloud, but it'll be available on Apple Music and most likely Spotify. Check out 'Under stairs' from the album."

Lawrence English - Cruel Optimism (Album)

"The last ambient album I'm going to list here, but I wouldn't put it in the same ballpark as the previous two. There's a lot more music elements going on, but the main thing I love from this is the use of distortion and thick wall of sound throughout."
