Snoochie Shy the Pink Princess of Radar Radio

Friday 17th February 2017 | Cory

We caught up with the Snoochie Shy the pink princess of Radar Radio who gave us a candid conversation about her style, fashion, inspiration and ambitions...

You are one of the most prominent DJs on Radar Radio which is a big achievement, how much does that mean to you?

Thank you! Radar is such a sick place to be and is full of so many DJ's that are currently killing it, I feel so honoured to be apart of the station - it's really family based, and everyone there really inspires me! I love the fact that Radar believe in all of their DJ's/Presenters and allow each of us the opportunity to have complete creative freedom with our shows! My show is more talk based, so I end up doing crazy interviews with mad games - normally the artists come in and say they're nervous to be on the show...this makes me happy (laughs) Expect the unexpected!

Who is your favourite DJ?

Venus X.

What is the best DJ set you have ever played?

Best DJ set I ever played was probably in Milan, I headlined in a club over there and it was such a sick experience, I played such a variety of music that I loved, a lot of new music too and it was so fun to see people hyped over music they may not have even necessarily heard before. Definitely a night to remember.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My mum is my biggest inspiration, she's always told me to not care what anyone thinks and to just be myself! Vashtie really inspires me too, the way she's combined both fashion and music together is really inspiring and I definitely look up to her!

What musical artist have you enjoyed interviewing the most so far and why?

I interviewed General Levy and that was just amazing because he is an absolute legend! I interviewed Rejjie Snow and that was sick - I got him to make home made lemonade with me at like 10am in the morning (laughs). Ms Dynamite was my first interview when I was at MTV and I made her cry which was something to remember for sure! (I promise it wasn't in a horrible way: it was due to talking about our mums).

How do you feel being a woman in such a male-dominated scene?

If I'm honest I feel like there are loads of us females out here at the moment doing what we love and killing it!  I like to appreciate everyone for their talent whether that be, DJ, Presenter, Producer, Rapper etc. I say take them for what they are and what their talent is as opposed to looking too much into their 'gender' and putting 'female' before their job title.

How would you describe your style, and what would be your favourite genre?

My style is all over the place. I used to be an emo/goth back in secondary school, then I was all about colours and before that I went through a phase where I was into sportswear and sportswear only! I think as I've grown I've kind of found myself more and more, and now my style just represents my mood and how I'm feeling that day! My style is IDGAF (laughs)

What is your favourite colour?

Pink... and black...

What would be your dream modelling campaign?

Calvin Klein campaign 100%. I love all of the CK campaigns and how they feature such a diverse range of people, not just models but artists too! I have to do one someday in the future! Definitely a major goal of mine.

If you could only keep one item of clothing that you own what would it be?

Black oversized vintage leather jacket. (see above)

Who is your favourite model?

I don't have a favourite model, but I have a favourite artist (when it comes to creativity with her campaigns); I would say Rihanna really inspires me modelling wise, her style is always evolving and I just love her!

Where is your favourite place to eat and what would you order?

Morley's SOUTH EAST LONDON. 6 wings and chips, and a chicken burger if I'm pushing the boat out.

If you could have a lifetime supply of anything what would it be?

Chicken Wings!

If you could have a swimming pool full of anything what would it be?

Chicken Wings!

What is your favourite thing about living in London?

Probably the fact that you can meet so many cool and talented people and so many of us are really passionate about what it is we're doing and its great to be surrounded by that...especially over chicken.
