Bryan Gee's hand picked favourites from the latest Liquid V Club Sessions compilation.
V Recordings off shot label, Liquid V has delivered another big Club Sessions album. Back for the sixth time, the imprint has gathered 23 sick beats from V affiliates including Bailey, Need For Mirrors, and L-Side. Brimming with funk and soul all the tracks have been masterfully mixed by label head Bryan Gee, producing one of the brightest mixtapes this summer.
Staying true to their sound, there's a sick mixture of slick and smooth tracks with loads of funk and the occasional heavy duty roller. The album is huge, if you're a fan of the liquid style then you need to hear this, check it out here.
To celebrate it's release we got Bryan Gee to handpick his 5 favourites from the Liquid V Club Sessions 6 - and they're HUGE.
Dramatic & Command Strange - Try To Understand
"These are two guys I have been working with over the last few years and knew it was gonna be something special when they collaborated to do this track. They both have similar styles when producing, although Command might be a bit darker. What I like about this tune is how they managed to switch a sunshine vibe into a growling roller and then back again. I'm a sucker for an old-skool funk vocal so definitely a favourite for me and in the clubs."
Random Movement - Savage Brutus
"Random's the man for me. He just keeps it simple, but the way he rolls out that bass is something else. Love the ragga vibe on this one - one for the heads and junglists."
Bailey - Stargazing (feat. Tali)
"Just a beautiful, well produced liquid funk tune. Another one my fave tracks that's sure to get you singing along without even noticing it. Produced by my boy Bailey. I was so glad he gave me this for the album and with my girl Tali taking control of vocals."
Phase 2 - One Time
"This one reminds me of Marcus Intalex's 'How You Make Me Feel'. So instantly I was like "wow this is good'. Really deep and soulful with that old early liquid funk vibe. Phase 2 is one to watch out for."
Fallin - Rowpieces
"I feel bit bad cause I wanted to include another track as well but how could I leave out Row? For me this guy is one the smoothest producers when it comes to liquid funk. The way he injects that soul into the music for me is incredible. When I hear Row I just look to the sky and close my eyes to enjoy what feels like a magic moment. Why I'm choosing this as my last one is a vocalist called Identified that I've discovered on here first and wow, she just kills it with some awesome vocals probably the one that touches that deep spot inside me the most on the album."
