America Unites in Small Acts of Kindness to Help Flint Residents

Other | Thursday 3rd March 2016 | Ashleigh-Rose

The Flint water crisis has been one of the biggest humanitarian disasters to hit America in the last five years. Residents of the city have had their water poisoned with lead after the City decided to switch supplier in a cost-cutting operation.

The result is a city of people who are suffering from the effects of lead poisoning and have been left unable to drink, prepare food or wash with the water from their taps.

7 Year-Old Helps local School

After hearing of the Flint residents plight, one seven-year-old boy from Virginia decided he wanted to do something to help the town.

Isiah Britt (with the help of his parents) set up a GoFundMe page and raised $500 to buy hand sanitizer for an Elementary school because the children were too scared to use the water to wash their hands.

300 Plumbers Come to Residents Rescue

300 Michigan plumbers gave up their weekend to fit new faucets for Flint residents, as the existing taps would not fit the Government provided water filters. The dedicated plumbers managed to change 800 faucets in one day and all for free, providing a vital service to the city where 40% of people live below the poverty line.
