Let's Put an End to the Massacre of Bulls!

Other | Monday 25th January 2016 | Blandine

I'm not saying that I'm the right one to talk about it, but as a born and bred French person living in south of France, I think I have the right to say why I'm against bullfighting.

So why should we stop the Corrida?

First because it is in no way a French tradition. Orgininally, Corrida comes from Spain. France is obsessed with the Spanish lifestyle, from Gypsy music to Corrida and all its traditions. This is a cultural heritage that is not ours and we should focus on our own traditions. They are numerous.

But this, this is true barbarity.

This is how it works: you enter the arena, have a seat, and watch a bull being tortured for an hour and a half , running arround trying to escape with spikes stuck in its back, loosing blood… nice!

Of course, before entering the arena, the bull gets its throat filled up with cotton, to make him suffocate. We should also talk about the needles stuck in its testicles? (In case the bull in question would like to sit and recover...)

The simple idea of entertaining ourselves by watching a animal dying is completely insane! The worst is when the crowd applauds the Matador. Each time he cuts an ear or the bull’s tail.

To sum up: Attending a Corrida is like spending money to watch a bull suffering for hours.

A video summarizing what generally happens at a Corrida, so that you can see for yourself if you would like to.
