Party-reggae collective Shanty keep summer going with 'Longtime'

Reggae | Thursday 3rd September 2015 | Annalisa

Dubbed "Band of the Week" by Fred Perry Subculture earlier this year, party-reggae collective Shanty return with their new single, ‘Longtime’ on 18th September.

With upbeat reggae basslines, delicate horn-licks and catchy vocal hooks, ‘Longtime’ stays true to the definitive Shanty sound and provides nothing but feel-good summer vibes. The track also showcases the band’s musical expertise with a euphoric brass solo followed by a stripped-back bridge that perfectly exhibits frontman Ben Willis’ soulful vocals.

Hailing from North-West London, the eclectic outfit’s modern twist on classic roots reggae encompasses a broad spectrum of influences, ranging from soul, electronic and hip-hop. Alongside support from M Magazine and Clash, the group’s innate ability to craft feel-good grooves has also seen them playlisted on Gary Crowley’s BBC Introducing show and be championed by legendary tastemaker David Rodigan on BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he described them as "a very talented young band of players."

Following the success of their debut EP Leave Me Out, the band of reggae brothers have recently been in the studio laying down some new material, with a follow-up record tantalisingly in the pipeline – watch this space.
