Giffoni is a very small town in souther Italy, but its importance is becoming increasingly big, thanks to the namesake Film Festival which takes place there every summer.
The 45th edition of Giffoni Film Festival has just ended, and the organizers are already planning new marvels for next summer. Quickly catching on since 1971 from an idea of then-18-year-old Claudio Gubitosi, the festival has always attracted huge personalities, including most famous director François Truffault.

Every year, in the middle of July, hundreds of young people from all over the world gather in the bright and sunny town of Giffoni Valle Piana to meet their idols, watch movies previews and give their vote for the festival's prizes. What makes the experience 'the most fundamental of all the festivals', as Truffault himself stated, is that it roots in social committment. All the films shown, and the cinema personalities invited are somehow involved with contemporary hot topics.
The festivals portrays a leading theme each year, and 2015's was Carpe Diem, meaning 'seize the day'. Last year, it was Be Different. All of the choices are cafully made in order to teach young people to never leave their dreams behind, to always make the most of any experience they live, and, what is most, to seek fun and joy at any moment, in any place, unconditionally.
No other film festival is as instructive to anyone partecipating, and fun at the same time: the teenagers in the jury get to meet their idols, even ask them questions personally. The press gets to watch movies' very first previews. Guests get to express themselves how they like, and are always greeted with typical Italian warmth.
