Arcadia Spectacular brings Metamorphosis to Bristol

House | Tuesday 21st July 2015 | Annalisa

Arcadia Spectacular and their world-famous mechanical spider, built in Bristol from 50 tonnes of recycled military hardware, are set to land in Bristol’s central Queen Square on the 4th and 5th September. This will be Arcadia’s first ever city-centre event, fusing innovative music, circus, sculpture, special effects, recycled biofuel pyrotechnics to deliver a truly epic weekend on home-turf.

Friday 4th September’s show will see Bristol’s very own drum and bass captain Roni Size and his Reprazent crew performing live and British jungle producer Congo Natty ft Congo Dubz and Tenor Fly. Dance legends Leftfield, who are currently riding high with their critically acclaimed new album Alternative Light Source, will also take to the gigantic spider.

Day two of the event welcomes Bristol’s home hero Eats Everything, BBC Radio 1 DJ and lady of the moment Annie Mac, house and bass duo Gotsome, and Monki, the underground tastemaker championing new electronic talent on her regular Radio 1 show and digital imprint ZOO Music.

Combining cutting edge technology, top level pyrotechnics, acrobatics and the leading lights of the electronic music scene, the show will be of truly monumental proportions. Arcadia Metamorphosis, is being brought to Bristol as part of the city’s year as European Green Capital. It will see the conversion of Arcadia’s signature flames to biofuel – creating the world’s first recycled biofuel pyrotechnics system. It’s one of six projects part funded by Arts Council England’s Exceptional Award as part of Bristol’s year as European Green Capital. The event will be produced by Team Love in partnership with Bristfest.
