5 reasons why we love Lovebox

Lovebox takes over Victoria Park on July 17th and 18th. We run down five reasons why you should take the Friday off work and start your weekend early at one of the best festivals of the summer.
Location, location, location
We’ve previously professed our love for Vicky Park but it’s worth mentioning again. This East London locale is the perfect festival spot – big but not too big, easy to get to, close to all the afterparties, you can go for a quick pedalo round the lake before you hit the tents, need we go on? No but seriously, Vicky Park is becoming one of the capital’s favourite festival grounds and long may it continue.
Sweet, sweet music
Yeah we know it’s obvious to mention the music but it’s always on point at Lovebox. Last year DJ EZ dropped some serious heat from a stage that looked like a house and you don’t get that any old place do you? This year the bill is bursting with the hottest house, hip-hop and electro acts on the planet. We’re talking Kaytranada, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Bonobo (DJ), Skepta, Blonde, Goldie, Dusky, Joy Orbison b2b Ben UFO, Maribou State, Novelist, Hot Chip, MK and more. And I mean anywhere with the don, the master, the legend Kerri Chandler on the bill is a place you need to be at.
Lovebox After Dark
The main line-up is killer but the afterparties that the Lovebox crew have put on are INSANE. Taking place at some of East’s hottest venues, you can well and truly keep the party going – Subsoul at The Laundry with MK and Icarus; Shy FX and Preditah at Village Underground; Regulate at Shapes; and Percolate at Oval Space with Bonobo (DJ) and Maribou State b2b Pedestrian. And that’s not even all of them. Wowzer.
The experiences
If you can tear yourself away from all the great music, there’s a ton of cool stuff you can get into, including Bump Roller Disco, The Voicebox, Charlene The Hoola Queen, Divine Ink and Slacklining. And speaking from experience, going on the dodgems with about ten of your mates and all of your drinks is properly hilarious.
The little logo characters
OK so this is not something we’d normally wax lyrical about but Lovebox has gone all out with their branding this year. The brains behind the super cool mascots is illustrator and “doodle bomber” Hattie Stewart, who came to fame for her drawings on the front of i-D and Vogue. As the Lovebox team has said, Hattie’s doodle represents what the festival is all about, “good times, good vibes, love, mischief and most of all – fun.”
