Benefit Beats has always had the concept of Marvel Comics and each release has been a collector’s item because of the immaculate artwork, message and story. This time round Social Security Presents K Jah - it's K Jah's debut EP on Benefit Beats.
K Jah has been around for a while, making a name for himself on KOOL FM Midlands back in the day as Kieran Jay. He then tried his hands at producing and quickly made his way to labels such as Ruff Neck Ting, Hazardous Muzik and Hocus Pocus. K Jah is now firmly part of the Benefit Beats Superheroes collective and will have lots more coming up on Benefit Beats in the near future. We look forward to K Jah sharing his super powers with the whole of planet Earth and the universe.
Sign Off Side means that the track is OFF THE HOOK, a banger. 'Are Your Ready' is the first Sign Off Side track, and is what first caught Social Security’s attention, with it all spiralling from there into an epic rolling jungle drum & bass EP. 'Are You Ready' has all the right ingredients for it to be a proper dance floor roller, something that will capture anyone’s attention when being played. The bass has the right pulling notes and from there it just rolls on in true jungle 1996 to 2015 style.
The second Sign Off Side track is 'Trademark Dub'. This track will bring back a lot of memories of One Nation back in 1996 and it has the flavour of a track produced by Zinc. The bass phrasing and the whole general vibe of the track; it's a proper dance floor bubbler.
Sign On means the track is ON IT, it's rolling, its focused. 'B Town Bounce' is exactly that - it has the bounce, the funk and a whole lot of bass. This track will remind you of the early DJ Die V Recordings rolling sub bass pressure that just keeps on moving. The second Sign On Side is 'Get Your Speakers'. Again K Jah wastes no time at all in getting stuck in with this steppa of a track. Very DJ Krust like, a bass line to blow any floor away as soon as it drops.
There you have it, a smasher of an EP from K Jah straight out of the Midlands. Expect loads more great music from him, especially his remix of Social Security’s Child Support classic track 'Green Cross Code' on Social Security's Classics Remix EP, released to celebrate 10 years of Benefit Beats this year.
