Annecy a day trip in France

Other | Wednesday 12th June 2013 | Indre

Wow it feels like Malaysia; transparent water and sunny mountains. What else could you wish for on a good weekend trip?

First comment that came out of my mouth while visiting Annecy, a little village in the Alps: wow it feels like Malaysia; transparent water and sunny mountains. What else could you wish for on a good weekend trip?

Annecy is an undiscovered destination in France, just a couple of miles away from Switzerland. “Whenever I come here – it always feels like holiday for me although I live 10 miles away from here” – my French friend told me.

Little streets to walk around, Venetian style atmosphere, an abandoned jail in the middle of a canal and a lovers’ bridge (Pont des Amours) are the main attractions you have to visit.

After taking pictures, you might get hungry. Annecy is also famous for its fishing traditions and I’m sure you will never have as good a portion of fish and chips anywhere else, even in England. French take care of their food and guests.

More to do...

Beside all the outdoor activities, good weather and baguettes don’t miss the chance to participate in Fête de la Musique – a music festival that comprises an open air music day. Everyone is welcome to perform (all you need to do is register) and enjoy! It’s on the 21st of June so you still have some time to pack your bags!
