Rockness is a relatively unknown music festival which is held on the banks of Loch Ness Scotland. The festival only began in 2006 but has been growing ever since.  It promotes electronic music, indie rock and hip hop. Festival revellers are spoilt for choice when it comes to which act to go see over the weekend.  The constantly strong line-up has been a major factor in the increasing popularity of the festival. Big names to have graced the stage include Fatboy Slim, Basment Jaxx , The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers.  The event is held on the second weekend of June and kicks of the summer music bonanza in style.

The festival is also the frontrunner in promoting up and coming indie talent. The smaller ‘ Strongbow tent’ and ‘Howards End Pub’ are examples of this and give British bands to showcase their talents. Last year was a particularly big year for Rockness with Indie giants Kasabian closing the first night. The band from Leicester provided the excited crowd with electric performances of hits such as Underdog and Club Foot. The festival goers who had gathered were in raptures and the rain didn’t dampen any moods.  Attracting the big names has also meant that there is now extensive festival coverage across the BBC and viewers can enjoy sets across most stages all weekend. This year’s Rockness features hip hop giant Plan B, The Vaccines and electronic wunderkind Madeon. It is certainly braced to be a big weekend come rain or shine!
