Festival - MS Dockville, Germany

Hamburg’s MS Dockville combines visual art with some high-profile performances. (And some low-profile ones, but that’s okay.)
It’s in the Wilhelmsburg district and weekend camping’s €98 (£83). It’s a small thing – a 15,000 thing - in its seventh year now, and the line-up is up-to-the-minute and assorted. Expect to see (if you go, obviously) Oxford math-rockers Foals and 21-year-old rapper Mac Miller.
Electro-pop three-piece Chvrches are there – you’ve probably heard ‘The Mother We Share’ somewhere, and so’s Baauer – you’ve definitely heard ‘Harlem Shake’ somewhere. Crystal Fighters are those guys that talk about our “genre-less future” and they’re at Dockville too, doing their Spanish/British electro/basque thing.
Arrive a bit earlier and you can watch the art develop – during the festival’s build up artists craft a huge, statue-filled open-air exhibition; MS Dockville doesn’t have a line-up better than anywhere else, but it does have a line-up as good as everywhere else – it’'ll be incredible, but we expect that sort of thing, now.
