TRAVEL: Barcelona

When you think about Barcelona what comes to mind? Probably sun, food, party and sport?
Sport is huge in Barcelona, and not just football. Barcelona FC is huge: you'll always catch a Spaniard in a Messi shirt and good luck Espanyol fans, but there's the odd Judson Wallace shirt about - basketball's huge there, and the city's got a weirdly strong handball team.
Contrary to popular beleif, I've found Catalonians to be highly patriotic - Spaniards before they're Catalonians. Of course, each is compatible with the other and the city unifes the two cultures. Really, it's Gaudi's city, just have a look at the monumental Sagrada Familia Cathedral, begun in the 60s and due for completion in the 30s!
'The city which never sleeps', Barcelona's a buzzing party city. But you all knew that. Really, you have to check out the restaurants and beaches to get the full picture - specialities like 'Arros-negre' are delicious, and the sandy strips are stunning.
