Beerland
Friday 5th April 2013 | Ellie
Belgium is a small but populated country sandwiched between France and Germany, known for chocolate, waffles and being the home of the EU and usually that’s all us Brits know about this little place as it’s sadly underrated. But there’s so much discover there! So I am here to share with you why you should cancel your plans this weekend and hop on the next Eurostar.
Firstly, Belgium is the home of beer. The ultimate day for a Belgian would be drinking and eating all day – sitting outside a bar in the city centre, surrounded by powerful gothic architecture, sipping a cold beer and eating chips with mayo. Just take a look at the picture above of Brussels city centre (The Grand Place as it is known in French), how could you miss out on that! Oh and did I mention the beer is dead cheap and comes in every fruity, dark or light flavour imaginable?
Then after you’ve chilled out all day, you can party all night; the parties don’t even get going until about 2am and finish when you finish.
Still not convinced you? Well if eating good food, drinking good beer, admiring beautiful architecture and partying all night isn’t for you then maybe you’d be convinced by the cheap transport, the fact that everyone speaks English, and that it only takes 2 hours to get here on the train and one hour by plane. Or maybe the fact that they hold some of the biggest festivals in Europe such as Rock Werchter or Tomorrowland will entice you.
So get booking people! This is the perfect place to go if you need a cheap getaway, somewhere not too far and not too foreign and somewhere that is as crazy or as quiet as you make it.
Vakantie is doen wat je graag doet! Vacationing is doing what you like doing. So don’t miss out!
