Melt! Festival is a festival that must surely be on any seasoned festival-goers agenda. Held in Ferropolis, Germany from 19-21 July, there is plenty of time for you to get in it in the diary and start saving the pennies for the flight over. The line up aside, one of the main attractions to this festival is the wonderful location; it is an open air museum of huge industrial machinery from the 20th century. Floating around the venue listening to tunes surrounded by towering cranes and other huge pieces of kit makes for a festival experience unlike any other.
The line up is also a major drawing point as there is an eclectic range of acts to suit your musical needs; the organisers have described the sound as ‘Electronic meets Rock.’ So far the first wave of 60+ acts has been announced, and amongst these are Alt-J, James Blake, The Knife, Woodkid, Everything Everything, Azealia Banks, Solomun, Art Department, Jamie Jones, Rudimental, Joy Orbison and so many more. Even with these all these names, it is the tip of the iceberg because over the coming months more announcements will be made, culminating in more than 120 acts on 6 stages. Keep your eyes peeled next Friday when the next top act will be revealed because by the time all the acts are announced everyone is going to want a piece of this festival and tickets will sell out. It is rare to be able to experience such an array of artists from these genres at the same festival so for anyone who has a bit of a soft spot for some indie but also loves to get down and dirty to some stomping techno, get your boots and flock to Ferropolis for 19th July.
