A Magic Night

When the magic happens.
The audience felt the heat when the first tunes of FLC’s ‘It’s you’ remix hit its ears. It was 2 am Sunday 10th February 2013 and Stephen Fasano was about to make the sweaty crowd at refurbished XOYO, in East London’s Shoreditch, dance like there was no tomorrow. For those who polished their dancing shoes it was a prefect bread and butter kind of event.
Fasano, a Belgian DJ also known as The Magician, is a former member of Aeroplane. The‘Ex-pilot’ now spreads his magic from London, through Tel Aviv, to Moscow. The mixture of disco, electro, deep house and retro drives audiences mad and what keeps them alive until the next gig takes place are The Magic Tapes-compilations produced once a month by the wizard himself.
There aren't any rabbits, or any handkerchiefs to be pulled out of the sleeve. What is engaging about Mr. Magician’s music is the vibes that literally drag you in with no possibilities for escape. For those who usually attend his gigs, it is no surprise that there is always a retro mega hit waiting to be played towards the end of the set. Just to name few- Toto’s Africa, Crystal Waters’ Gypsy Woman, Robin S’s You gotta show me love and last time it was Technotronic’s Pump Up the Jam that banged one’s ears.
If the remix of Lykke Li’s ‘I follow rivers’ rings a bell, then you’ll be ecstatically enthusiastic about The Magician’s work.
