Feast Feature

House | Tuesday 11th December 2012 | Osh

Shoreditch itself is the epicenter for a lot of interesting, quirky outlets including food, fashion, street art and predominately music. The house music culture has always been a focal point in the area and a huge part of that has always been the Saturday day time soiree Feast. The events are now over two years to the good and could have easily followed the path of charging on the door, but with the bustling followers and heavy line ups they have still kept to their roots of not charging a dime.

The Feast crew even explained to me 'The parties always attract people because we are free, we get a variety of headliners down at the venue which is accompanied by a great soundsystem'. If you ask me, what more do you need? Its true to its word as I took in my very first Feast not so long ago, with it packed to its rafters the crowd alongside Matt Fear at the time on the decks took the 93 Feet East courtyard to new heights. With that said the venue itself is such a popular location attracting some of the finest artists within a plethora of genres, not just for Feast. The promoters go further in saying 'The venue is so popular because it has a great sound system, a really nice heated courtyard to chill from the music and it's in the centre of brick lane. Shoredich is so popular because it has so many different parties, bars and a great mix of people from all walks of life''

Over the Christmas period, Feast will draft in some of the brightest names on the roster today will have been to the venue culminating in NYE event to cap off another amazing year for the brand. Artists that have performed  are Rob James and Russ Yallop, rising star S.K.A.M and The Climbers. The NYE shindig, which has been hotly tipped as one of the events on the NYE calendar has covered all bases in true form. H2, Raffa, Dale Howard plus many more all headline the showcase which will go against the rules of Feast and become more of an evening event.

Some of the highlights have been the crowds sheer passion and energy they bring week in week out. We can also mention some of the amazing artists they have manage to bring in from across the globe. Speaking with the owners, they have so many highlights, but just this past weekend they pinpoint the show as one of their moments of 2012.  'This Saturday we had the guys from Back To You Records and they were on top form'. They also mark another highlight being their take over on a Friday night with their new venture Drop In. Drop In is another free house gathering partnering with local stalwart artist Shane Watcha and his Zombie Soundsytem crew.

Whether in London to do your Christmas shopping or for a real good knees up Feast should be on your list of places to visit, there are no excuses on the price and certainly no excuses on the entertainment and with over two years in the game, its a sure fire hitter and of one of the shining lights in the London underground scenario.
