A Closer Look: Audible1
Friday 7th December 2012 | Jenny
Currently my ‘One to Watch’, I had the pleasure of catching Audible1 last week performing at PING! Earls Court alongside Eva Lazarus. Their evening set was the ideal showcase for these two incredibly talented artists.
Switching and swapping between improvisation, scratching, MCing and beatboxing, there seemed to be nothing that Audible1 couldn’t do; particularly drawing the audience in with a sick version of Salt N Pepa’s ‘Push It’. Eva Lazarus has one of those flawless voices with incredible clarity and she can spit bars equally strongly. The highlight had to be their live collaboration on forthcoming single ‘Stranger.’ This track will work so well being dropped in DJ sets across the board; it’s instantly catchy, features intricate elements of tight production and the soulful touches of Lazarus’ voice carry over the weighty basslines.
Drawing on many sources of inspiration whilst growing up, Alex Norgate has established himself as multifaceted performer. After years of being surrounded by music, through family and friends Alex developed a real passion for music and its creation. Having an array of unique skills has most certainly helped him develop his infectious sound.
He cites Noisia, Nina Miranda and Ugly Duckling as influences and is collaborating with vocalists and musicians across a spectrum of genres, especially Indian and world music. Plans for 2013 include three further singles for release in February, May and August. Expect great videos for all of these. Inbetween this and producing he will continue to play live shows throughout the UK and Europe.
Go and grab ‘Stranger’ ft. Eva Lazarus for yourself on 17th December, it will definitely hook you straight in.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stranger-feat-Eva-Lazarus/dp/B00AAMPV0M
The rest of this month you may well catch him if you're in France as he tours across the Alps- keep an eye on his website for details. http://www.audible1.com/
