No more Live Nation events to be held at Hyde Park

The company behind Hard Rock Calling has called time on its long-standing partnership with the venue, leaving the future of live music events there in severe doubt.
The entertainment promoter pulled out of bids for a new five-year contract with Hyde Park following criticism of the “flawed” process of renewing their partnership. They have also stated that the tender document does not take into account the “complex logistics and costs of running big events” in such a place.
Problems have arisen in the past over curfews and noise restrictions. Putting on gigs and festivals in a public area in close proximity to domestic locations has proved contentious, with local residents unhappy with noise levels. On the other hand, attendees felt snubbed last year when a duet between Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney was cut short. Someone is always going to lose out, but it seems like this time around, it will be those who want to go to the gigs.
The park has played host to numerous events, including Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Calling. Despite concerts only being held there on about 25 days per year, this figure could now be reduced to nothing.
