Joe Le Groove having words with: Daniele Papini
Friday 12th October 2012 | James
From classical pianist to punk bassist. Daniele Papini talks about his eclectic sound with The Guestlist Network.
You were being trained as a Classic pianist when you were a child, what music captivated you then?
Wagner, thanks to my grandpa.
What were your first memories of electronic music, and who influenced you?
I was listening to Orb, FSOL, and dub music when I started to get closer to electronic music, but I don't know who influenced me the most, I've been so lucky to get in touch with so many wonderful people that I can't choose one in particular.
How would you describe your sound?
Always changing.
What current projects are you involved in at the moment?
A new project with Agazzi, a producer and good friend from Udine and I just back in Berlin after a wonderful month spent in Italy in a studio jamming with an old friend and amazing musician, I'm selecting hours of recordings these days.
If you were not in the music scene what would be doing instead?
I come from a family that use to work with food and wine, that's one of my passions, so I'd say cook.
Where does your inspiration come from when you are in the studio?
It comes from everything surrounds me, laughs, friends, memories and so on.
What set up do you use when you perform?
Vinyl and CD players.
You are playing at Big Vinyl Circus on Saturday morning 13th Oct, what can the crowd expect from you?
I hope not to cook.
What have you got in the pipeline for 2013?
Some new releases with Agazzi and Francesco Assenza on Sleep is Commercial rec. and my first album, I didn't until now because I never felt the need to do it, but now I'm selecting some new projects to put together the ingredients to start it.
If you had to invent a new electronic music genre what would you call it?
Silence.
If you were banished to a desert island and you had to take three famous people dead or alive, who would you take and why would you take them?
Frank Zappa, immense sense of humour and great musician, the perfect one to enjoy life. Gerard Boyer, we will need a cook, I love to cook but he is better than me, and Audrey Hepburn, what a woman.
