Discover Wilkinson, Ram Records' spoiled child

From the South West London suburbs comes Wilkinson, the new Ram Record’s best bet.
He got involved with music from an early age, although he tried many different styles until finding his element. From rock-drummer at the age of 9, to teenage hip-hop and dance music artist, and finally reaching what takes him to our paper today, drum & bass. His brother was the one who introduced him to this genre when he gave him a D&B mix CD. As most important things in life, it came by chance. He was rehearsing at his college studio, he bought his first bits of production gear and turned his bedroom into a studio until he could afford to have a proper one not far from his place.
Influenced by tunes such as Matrix, TC's early stuff, Roni Size, Ed Rush & Optical, High Contrast, Logistics and some of the old Pendulum, he describes his style as “me trying to find that middle ground between dance floor mayhem and nice uplifting music”. And his goal is to get as much volume and bass into a tune as he can.
He first worked for Hospital Records doing his first release in the Sick Music 2 compilation. But soon he sent some tunes to Ram Records who welcomed him with open arms via Andy C. He went away from Hospital because he discovered he was more into real dancefloor drum & bass than real musical drum & bass. So he decided “to go down a more dancefloor route, with bigger basslines and a bit more of a harsher sound”. Ram then distributed his first singles in clubs all over the world, getting a good response from audiences, so they decided to include all of them on Andy C’s Nightlife 5. That was what catapulted him to success, damage dance-floors worldwide and win fans from Skream, Fabio and High Contrast.
Lately he has remixed Chase & Status’ ʻTimeʼ, Time Takers ʻShe Blowsʼ and Exampleʼs new single ʻMidnight Run’, and is currently working on production projects for new Mercury Records signing JayʼElleʼDee and Island Records artist Jess Mills. He is also preparing his debut album for Ram Records and still touring worldwide from Australia to Berlin, Brighton and Barcelona.
