Oliver Stone’s New Film Savaged

From the man that brought Tarantino’s ‘Natural Born Killers’ to the screen comes a brand new cult film, masquerading as a Hollywood blockbuster. And that was it’s first mistake. ‘Savages’ tells the story of a girl named O (Blake Lively) and her two boyfriends (yes two and yes they know about each other) - Chon (Taylor Kitsch) and Ben (Aaron Johnson). Together they form a drug dealing duo in Laguna Beach, California and guess what? They get into trouble with a Mexican cartel (Salma Hayak and Benicio Del Toro) and the FBI (John Travolta).
Critics have responded less than favourably to Oliver Stone's latest gangster offering. The most obvious faults lay with the script and the acting, despite the A-list cast. The Telegraph sought a humourous explanation for the over-acting on display: 'They have the look of actors with mortgages.' Peter Bradshaw at The Guardian went further in his attack: an 'incredibly tiresome and unendurably long film…featuring deathly performances from actors who have had a pint of formaldehyde injected into their necks.'
Ouch! Take caution before buying a ticket, although it may be worth it to see just how bad the acting really is.
