Cocoon Club Goes Bankrupt

It has recently been announced that Cocoon Club GMBH, the company behind Frankfurt’s superclub Cocoon Club, has sadly gone into administration.
After opening in 2004, it was lead by the visionary Sven Väth and quickly became one of Germany’s most established clubs due to the highly popular international house and techno bookings. However, on www.cocoon.net, it speaks of Väth as “the visionary, ideas provider and advising musical curator behind the club concept," but also claims him to be “just a partner” and that he was never involved with the daily running of the club.
What will happen to the Cocoon Club from now is unknown, but a spokeswoman for Cocoon said “A bankruptcy is primarily used to save a company and not to close it... The whole team is working to save the club, and of course we will continue.”
I truly hope, and I’m sure most of you do too, for the very best for Cocoon Club because it will be a great shame to see such an iconic venue go under. Cocoon has held some of the best nights in house and techno history – take a look at Sven Väth tearing the decks in his own stomping ground.
