Beardyman, The Beatboxing King: KOKO Preview

Drum and Bass | Wednesday 19th September 2012 | Osh

North London squire Beardyman is a born entertainer and knows how to keep a crowd pepped, so when he is booked to play in London you better clear your diary and score yourself a ticket. The maverick beatboxer is bringing his tongue twizzling skills to KOKO this Saturday and you would be mad to miss it.

Darren Foreman, better known by his stage name Beardyman, has a highly individualised style of beat boxing, using complex sound loops, with a strong focus on experimentalism across new technology. He is never static with a mic in his hand and operates the decks like you would expect Mr. Gadget to, if he wasn’t an incorporeal cartoon creation and liked to rock the microphone.

He has been touring the UK of late, as well as voyaging across Europe and playing some of the big festivals like Sonar, Bestival and Lovebox. Beardyman has also won a string of awards and championships; and despite all this hype surrounding him, he found time to release his debut record 'I Done A Album' in 2011, which helped to build his reputation as an artist amongst his peers.

The 2x time UK Beatboxing Champion delivers his best when he is live and unplugged. His show is extremely tactile and interactive, so expect plenty of crowd participation, quality tunes, and there may even be some tomfoolery in the form of drum’n'bass musical statues if your lucky.

Beardyman hits the stage Saturday 22nd Sept. Tickets available on the KOKO website.
