A Holiday in Greece!
Thursday 5th April 2012 | Osh
In the last few years Greece has become the poster child for the European debt crisis and European political instability. Greece has been put in the spotlight by the press following its social unrest, its perceived inability to be economically competitive and its ‘laid back’ culture in every country from the UK to Taiwan. This may have caused many who usually see Greece as the perfect summer getaway to rethink their summer holidays.
However, Greece has never been a dream holiday destination for its strong economy, its shopping malls or its grand city scape. On the contrary, for years Greece has been attracting tourists from all over the globe to come and visit its natural and ancient beauty, and this beauty does not subside with economic disparity.
From the magnificent monasteries literally built in the sky upon sandstone rocks that rise from the ground to 373 meters at the ancient city of Meteora to the breathtaking beaches, restaurants and clubs found on the thousands of Aegean and Ionian islands, including the world-famous party island Mykonos, the breathtaking architecture of the Acropolis found in the heart of Athens, currently standing for over 4,000 years, to the fresh air on the peak of Mount Olympus, home to the ancient Greek gods, Greece has a unique quality and tradition of lifestyle that is found nowhere else in the world.
With the sun still shining, the sea still turquoise blue, the dolphins still jumping in the Ionian sea, the bakers, farmers, butchers, grandma’s still cooking the healthiest and most tasty food around and the music still playing all day and all night, Greece is still the place to be this summer. And just to add a little more, the crisis in Greece has let prices heavily fall making Greece a very, very affordable destination this summer.
Greece’s magic never fails to allure and warm the open hearted leaving everyone with a sense of hidden mystery to ponder on for long after they depart this historical paradise.
