Plas Curig, Snowdonia: the UK’s Poshest Hostel

There’s nothing special or new about boutique hostels, but the interior design at Plas Curig in Snowdonia wouldn’t look out of place in a magazine.
Complete with built- in seating, colourful Roman blinds and trendy factory lights the new hostel in Snowdonia is impressive. The bedroom door silently shuts, which is perfect for a goodnight’s sleep in shared dormitories.
Hostelling in the UK is not luxurious, but it is cheap and easy. They are usually a bit more modern and elegant in other parts of Europe. However, Plas Curig resembles ‘an extremely good value boutique hotel.’ Amy McIntyre its young owner said that getting the atmosphere right was the most important thing. It is interior designed, plush with intricate attention to detail.
She said ‘I wanted it to feel like a travellers’ hostel, or a small, communal hotel.’ They are usually not so comfortable, and are just used for people to turn up and sleep.
Rooms start at just £22.50 per night for a bunk bed and £25 for a double. Amy said people were suspicious of the cheap prices but ‘We’re still a hostel after all.’
