One Love Festival Preview

Other | Tuesday 16th August 2011 | Osh

33 years ago, Bob Marley and the Wailers performed at the One Love Peace Concert in Kingston’s National Arena in an attempt to end the feud between Jamaica’s political parties. Unbelievably, in a flash of lightning and a roll of thunder, the party heads met on stage for a handshake that would pacify the rivals and cool down their fiery conflict. 33 years later the spirit of ‘One Love, One Heart’ lives on with One Love Festival, the UK’s biggest Reggae and Dub three day festival, spreading Marley’s message of peace to the people.

Expect Reggae and Dancehall with Britain’s top dog David Rodigan, sunny Reggae with Finlay Quaye and the powerfully emotive passion of Ken Boothe heading things up on the One Love Stage. Feel the positive vibes with Aba Shanti and DubMastor and get your Roots Reggae education from the University of Dub on the Lively Up Yourself Stage.

Hole yourself up with like-minded pleasure-seekers and get cabin fever in the Dub Shack with More Rockers, Inspector Dub Plate and the Iration Steppas and finally, let those ruff-rolling riddims wash over you with Congo Natty a.k.a Rebel MC and Kosine & X Nation featuring the Ragga Twins at the Unity Collective Area. Get involved, join the community and spread the message: One Love, One Heart.

One Love Festival is this weekend (19-21st August) in London. For more information go to onelovefestival.co.uk
