It’s the night before Soundwave, and in case anyone with a ticket to the festival isn’t already excited enough about flying out to the sunny Garden in Tisno and boogying on down, it has just been announced that New Zealand’s finest reggae-sters Fat Freddy’s Drop will be closing the festival on Monday 21st July. Well established as the biggest names in modern reggae, the seven kiwis will be joining hundreds of party-goers in this idyllic beach-side location to form part of the spectacular line-up, which features Mr Scruff, Gold Panda, Huey Morgan and Madlib.
Known for delivering phenomenal live performances of their mad, often improvised reggae/soul/jazz/rnb/techno hybrid (check them out live at Rough Trade here), Fat Freddy’s Drop know their way around a festival crowd, sending them wild with unruly music which you can’t not dance to. If you haven’t heard it before, their smooth bass lines, catchy brass and climactic drops will form the perfect end to a weekend of live music spread over beach stages, boat parties and open-air clubs for those who truly never rest. If you think reggae is a chilled way to end the festival, you’ve never heard it like this before…
Advanced online tickets to the festival are now sold out but if you want to take your chances you can turn up to Tisno on the day and get a weekend pass for only 1155 HRK or a day pass to see Fat Freddy’s Drop on Monday for 415 HRK. Flight back Monday morning, back at work by lunchtime… as the band sing in ‘Roady’, do it for the love of music!
