Love Saves the Day!

Arriving at Castle Park, I was greeted by a 10,000 strong crowd of glittery ravers who were about to be treated to a rainy, yet magical weekend of internationally acclaimed music. Conceived by Bristol’s infamous music scene, the long awaited arrival of the festival exceeded my expectations in every way; there was more mud, more bass and more love than you could imagine.
Only three years old, the gathering has already become one of Bristol’s most popular summer events and the weekend definitely catered for everyone. Saturday was the day for the stompers; the people who – despite the almost torrential rain – were fist-pumping to Annie Mac and Nina Kraviz, who both, as you would expect, killed it. Sunday was a more chilled affair – one for the sway-ers, who were after a more chilled out vibe - probably because they were suffering from the results of Saturday’s debaucheries. It was designed for the people who lapped up the sunshine grooving to the reminiscent sounds of Mike Skinner’s set or the feel-good electronics of Clean Bandit.
For me, however, the show was stolen by none other than the Sunday night headliner, SBTRKT, who as usual, set the place on fire. The set was flawless; SBTRKT seduced the entire festival with atmospheric lights and futuristic post-dub melodies. He also shared the stage with the heart breaking soulful vocalist Sampha, which was the icing on top of the beautifully sounding cake!
The festival perfectly combined some of the world’s sickest DJ’s and acts, with delicious food stands, booze carts and the laidback vibes of Bristol and gave birth to something that will soon be competing with the big guns.
Love Saves the Day epitomized the ambiance of Bristol’s ever growing music scene and gave the punters, and I, a party with real integrity.
