Russ Disciple (formerly The Disciples) has recently been releasing digital mixtapes of their greatest tunes (available to listen to on Spotify and purchase in the Itunes Store). This iconic producer/musician does not cease to surprise us with his steppas, avant-gardist sound.
He was once, alongside his brother, ‘the disciples’ of the ‘almighty Zulu Warrior’, Jah Shaka, from whom they most certainly inherited the sound of soulful roots, which they carried onto modern dub productions. The mix of heavily militant and spiritual dubwise sound is what makes The Disciples so praiseworthy and unique.
Not only did Boom Shaka Lacka Records quickly become a prominent label in the dub scene worldwide, but, moreover, it is one of Russ Disciple’s unbelievable sound system sessions that I would kill to see. When he takes the controls, he threatens of damaging both the subs and the walls with his insane drops.
In the meantime, he can only ensure that your headphones take the blow.
