Creamfields storms back celebrating its massive 15th ANNIVERSARY!
Tuesday 27th August 2013 | Natalie
Following the adverse weather conditions last year – turning fields of cream into fields of swamps – Creamfields organisers were adamant that they would strike back this year with an unforgettable, electronic festival. The organisers spent over £500,000 this year on major site improvements, including field drainage systems, investment into additional track way and new bridges that stretched across fields. There was literally no chance of ANYTHING coming between the crowd’s hungry ears and the fat electro beats!
To assure electro-heads the experience of an unmissable show, Creamfields showcased a bigger than big line-up presenting massive names like Tiesto, Avicci, Laidback Luke, Paul Van Dyk, Shadow Child, Skream, Benga – the list just goes on and on...
The brand spanking new Cream stage was also erected, which stood three times larger than 2012’s, spanning 60 metres wide x 18 metres high and was bulked out with 7 LED screens which provided an exceptional visual show – now that’s what I’m talking about!
In the words of Fatboy Slim and Riva Starr, it was literally “EAT, SLEEP, RAVE, REPEAT” for the ravers this weekend. Friday night kicked off with a warm-up Silent Disco, where DJs like Shadow Child, Duke Dumont, Riva Starr and Danny Avila teased the audience right from the word go. Each partygoer picked up their very own set of headphones and bopped about the tent to whatever took their fancy!
Come Saturday, the three colossal stages and 8 tents were in full swing and were crammed to the brim by dusk! Saturday showcased the likes of Knife Party, Hot Since 82, Pete Tong, Skream, Benga, Andy C and Julio Bashmore.
Hot Since 82 took over the All Gone Pete Tong tent, providing an incredible two-hour set where he dropped some of the sickest house beats, including his fresh remix of Green Velvet – Bigger than Prince. This tune is due to be released on 2nd September 2013 by Circus recordings – hold tight!
Sunday did not fail to keep the punters on their feet right up to the very last minute, even after a mental couple of days. With performances from Borgore, Afrojack, Subfous, Modestep, Shy Fx and Friction and friends, this came of no surprise! And even if energy levels began to dip a tad, a trip to the GoodGreef X-tra Hard tent soon had the heart thumping again, right back to where it should be at Cream! With appearances from the likes of Alex Kidd and Andy Whitby, this tent savagely pumped the hardcore beat straight through the veins of the ravers.
But it had to come to a sad end eventually and on Monday the crowds started to reluctantly filter out of the campsites. @Carolnoodlepot25 most certainly felt the pull on her heartstrings, as she tweeted “Okay so I’m actually sat outside my tent crying that @Creamfields is basically over.” It’ll definitely be festival blues all around for the Creamfielders this long long week.
Next year promises to make the crowd cream even more (if that is even possible) as it hopes to be yet another sell-out!
Be sure not to miss out next year – tickets go on sale for 2014 very very soon!
