Blast Off into Rave Space - Imaginarium VII: Alien Safari

Drum and Bass | Thursday 4th July 2013 | Ewan

The seventh instalment of the fetish themed rave in Vauxhall saw it's party-goers gearing up for survival mode with it's Alien Safari theme. Exotic alien life-forms, neo-bounty hunters and robotic humanoids all took to the dancefloor in true Imaginarium fashion. When the doors opened at 10:00pm the aliens and humanoids began pouring in, wearing all manner of futuristic get-ups, not to mention a red-skinned feline alien amidst the usual weird and wonderful creations that usually spawn in the cosy Vauxhall venue.

Returning to the decks were the usual suspects Voodootronix, Lynch the Hangman and Simon Iridium, spinning everything from electro-House, Drum and Bass and Jungle. There were however some very welcome newcomers to the forefront of the starship imaginarium, including the likes of Meonmeown who opened up for room 2 with some classic 90's pop and moved into electro-House later on. It was a lovely way to begin the night and he paved the way neatly for oneskinnydj to crank the gear up a notch. Later on Matamtiks would provide some much needed drum and bass, providing us with liquid delight and aural stimulation, leaving the rest up to Duzmoore and Skaggy to take us out of orbit and back.

I think what makes raving on the starship Imaginarium so unique is the atmosphere and vibe that is generated by the fully dressed, face-painted, tattooed and costumed crowd. Street wear such as hoodies, jeans and trainers are prohibited. You either adhere to the wacky, weird and wonderful dress code or don't come in at all. This means that no one is left feeling alienated (no pun intended) and everyone is part of the crew.

Admittedly Imaginarium may not be for everyone. Some people might feel intimated by the abundance of sultry and suggestive outfits. Others might feel too timid to dress-up themselves. If you are feeling brave however, remember that everyone else will be just as sexy or clothe-less as you are and everyone is simply there to have a good time with other like minded people. The Imaginarium staff are always on hand to assist you with anything you might need. Maybe you're looking for something a little bit different, maybe you're feeling sexy? Whatever the reason, Imaginarium is host to a friendly family of misfits, freaks and delinquents, so you should never feel alone there.

Imaginarium takes place in Vauxhall at club Union not far from Vauxhall overground station. Details of the next event can be found at Imaginariumevents.com
