New York, The Big Apple, The Empire State. Attracting tourists all year round. To get a taste of the ‘New York experience’, no trip is complete without visiting and experiencing the following sites and attractions. Whether it’s a weekend city break or a week away, there’s always time to squeeze something in, after all, it is the city that never sleeps.
1.The Statue of Liberty: A short ferry ride across the Hudson river brings you to the torch-bearing statue where hundreds queue for a photo beside the iconic pedestal.
2.Brooklyn Bridge: One of New York’s most famous landmarks, this bridge is a vital part of the amazing skyline.
3.Empire State Building: Standing at 1,250 feet tall, there is no better place to take in the beauty of the entire city in one go. (That’s if it’s not foggy).
4. Times Square: One third of a million people pass through Times Square daily, why wouldn’t you want to be one of them? The home to Broadway was named the world’s most visited tourist attraction in 2011, and the atmosphere in the early evening is electric.
5. Central Park: Holding a zoo, public theatre, swimming pools, an ice-skating rink, playgrounds and natural beauty, you shouldn’t miss this attraction.
6. Yankee stadium: The perfect opportunity to buy a jumbo hotdog and be a part of the American sporting atmosphere
7. Ground Zero: Home to the site of the World Trade Centre, the museums, memorials and churches give a strong sense of the devastation caused on 9/11.
8. NYC skyline at night: One of the world’s most famous skylines, there is no better time to view it than in the darkness with the only light coming from the buildings. Night tour buses drive towards Brooklyn on the other side of the river giving you a perfect photo opportunity.
9. Grand Central Station: Featured in nearly every New York-set film, this station really puts Kings Cross and Victoria station in the shade.
10. Macy’s: For those shopaholics, New York is the ultimate city to splash out. And where better to do it, than in the biggest department store in the world?
