REVIEW: Found Festival @ Haggerston Park 15th June

House | Friday 21st June 2013 | Osh

Found was one festival that was a must cover for us here at Guestlist and in their first year running we left very impressed and excited for next year.

Only living ten minutes away, it was a short but rainy journey down to Haggerston Park the heavens had opened yet I was determined not to let that affect me and my fellow 10 eager party goers, all equipped with a Strongbow in hand and jacket over our heads trying to dodge the bullets of rain. Arriving at the festival it seemed organised with everyone entering quickly with no hassle. Running to the nearest tent for cover, looking around the space seemed compact and the watermelon tent was looking very appealing! Heading to the VIP tent we were lucky enough to catch some of Breach’s set, dropping ‘Jack’ (Route 94 Remix) the bass was making waves through the speakers. The tent was cosy with beautiful colourful lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The vibes were buzzing and despite the rainy weather the party was going off and everyone was in full spirit. By mid afternoon the atmosphere was lifted by the rays of the sun that had forced their way out of the dark clouds. Cheers of joy filled the air and the sun was bouncing upon the smiles of the thousands of people in the crowd.

The Tief & Trouble Vision stage was banging out tunes from acts such as Wolf + Lamb and Floating Points, the other tent was headed up by Magna Carta where we witnessed an epic set from Shonky who smashed it playing that deep house sound that we love. As the sun was shining we wanted to embrace the weather so we headed over to the main stage to catch the much anticipated set from the legendary Lee Foss who went back to back with MK. With MK dropping his almighty remix of Storm Queen- “Look Right Through”, we were just getting warmed up. The day ended on a high, and although the early curfew was set at 9pm we made the most of Maya Jane Coles set. Playing tunes off her upcoming album ‘Comfort’ as well of those classics such as “What They Say” this leading lady put on a standout performance and was the perfect act to close the day. Found kicked the festival season off with a bang and overall it was a great day. Though the sound could have been louder at certain points we understand that tight restrictions were against them so I feel they worked this to their best ability. This was a definite success story to cement their history...now roll on Eastern Electrics in August!
