Drenge - Rory and Eoin Loveless - follow up their acclaimed self-titled debut with their second album Undertow, which is released on 6th April. Written and recorded on tour last year, and between their hometown of Castleton and Sheffield, where the band now live, Undertow was produced by Ross Orton and, for the first time, features a third member, Rob Graham, playing bass on three songs. Graham also joins the band for their UK tour, which kicks off on April 10th, and includes headline shows at Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms and Norwich’s Waterfront.
The first single from the record, ‘We Can Do What We Want’, was made Hottest Record In The World on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show, and the band performed the track live on the David Letterman show in the US. ‘We Can Do What We Want’ is also available as an instant gratification download when you pre-order the album.
Drenge’s live shows at the beginning of the year caused The Guardian to call them “a formidable, exciting live band, whose eruption of garage, grunge and space rock combines with Damned/Misfits-style crooning to turn the jam-packed audience into a heaving mass in minutes.” Clearly these guys are not to be missed.
