The Festival of Colours

Monday 3rd June 2013 | Negar

August 10th – keep this day free on your calendar. One of London’s most beloved buildings, the Battersea Power Station, will be transformed into a multi-coloured platform!

You’re most likely asking WHY?

The Holi Festival is one of the most famous celebrations in the northern parts of India. It takes place on the day of the fullmoon of the Phaluga. It’s a way of celebrating the victory of the good over the bad and the beginning of the spring. To express their freedom, people throw colourful powder in the air and paint themselves in various bright colours. In a sense, they are colouring their day-to-day life. On this colourful day, it is believed that all people are supposed to be equal.

Using this notion, the Holi festival is set to come to Europe. A day to be celebrated with joy and cheer. A day for people to come together in peace and harmony.

“This event has the power to directly promote and foster quality and tolerance and bring people together.”

So, for the first time, this event will be coming to LONDON! The Battersea Power Station is located southwest London, by the river Thames, right next to Grosvenor and Chelsea Bridge. It is a beautiful, massive sight with amazing architecture and great history behind it.

Tickets for this event will go on sale on 16th June at 12pm.
