Chinese New Year 2013
Wednesday 6th February 2013 | Marie
Next Sunday, get ready to celebrate a new year, the chinese year of the snake. London’s Chinese New Year celebrations are the largest outside Asia. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people descend on the West End to wish each other "Kung Hei Fat Choi" (or Happy New Year).
The festivities will begin in the morning with a parade through to West end to Trafalgar Square, and will be followed by performances featuring acrobatics, martial arts, magic, the Chen Brothers Flying Lion Dance, troupes of visiting artists from China, plus singer-songwriter Emmy the Great.
After that, why not pop over Chinatown where there will be a range of stalls selling traditional produce throughout the day. But dont' forget back in Trafalgar square at 5:55pm for a spectacular firework display set to close the celebrations.
