For over 10 years, DJ Harvey has travelled around the world but until now has not returned to the UK. This October, Red Bull Music Academy will bring DJ Harvey back with gigs in London and Manchester.
Though having being brought up in the UK, Harvey Bassett took to mixing after he had a first-hand glimpse of New York’s growing Hip-Hop Culture in the late ‘80s. Then in the early ‘90s, he imported America’s disco scene over the Atlantic to the UK. During his Moist residency at The Garden Club, he brought the likes of Francois K and Kenny Carpenter to spin alongside him. He then carried on this tradition of importing acts when he started to play at Ministry of Sound Club.
Due to complications with his Visa in the US and a chaotic schedule sending him around the globe, DJ Harvey has not been able to return to his home country until now. He will be playing two nights both in London and Manchester: the first takes place at Oval Space in London on 19th October and then he will head north for a set at The Warehouse Project on the following Thursday.
His return is sure to be a welcome one with many tickets sold for the first gig already. You can grab tickets for all of DJ Harvey’s upcoming events here.
Take a look at how DJ Harvey struts his disco vibe across his sets.
