Get ready for the Notting Hill Carnival
Tuesday 31st July 2012 | Osh
The one carnival you certainly don’t want to miss out on this year has to be Notting Hill. It has been taking place since 1966 so should already be on your to-do list every August of every year. The carnival promises to be as wild and wonderful as usual with a crazy mixture of reggae, R&B, Funk, Dub and House music, over 30 static sound systems and an appearance by those ubiquitous steel drums. There are no confirmed acts as of yet, but previous lineups included the likes of Jamiroquai, Eddie Grant and Wyclef Jean so this year there should be no exceptions. The carnival will, as always provide its viewers with colourful costumes and talented dancers to get the party started and food from all over the world to get your taste buds going, including its most famous jerk chicken, a selection of exotic curries, patties and fried plantain. (Check out their website http://www.thenottinghillcarnival.com/food.html to see the secret recipe to that beautiful jerk chicken). The carnival is due to take place from 26th to the 27th August, with the parade beginning at 9am and finishing at 7pm. Yet, there are plenty of places to party afterwards, so stick around and keep those party shoes on.
Take a look at the video below from last year’s carnival to get you in the mood.
